Slaai The Day with DE Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser

I adore makeup but there is something so completely satisfying about removing it. My favourite routine is a good double cleanse which is using an oil based remover first followed by a water based cleanse. To some that may sound excessive but my skin absolutely adores it. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean and supple. I do however, also like to change up what I double cleanse with and I was a bit late to the party trying this Drunk Elephant product but I did get it in a mini version first to test out. For all my thoughts keep reading.

I was immediately struck by the texture, it looked more solid and wax-like than I thought. It had no immediately discernable or strong scent (something I am always a fan of).

Retrieval from the jar was easier than I expected with the little spoon and it was extremely easy to apply to the skin and begin to rub around. But the magic really happened when I added water and it quickly turned from oil to milk which gave me that frothy cream-like satisfaction I prefer in a cleanser. It was super gentle around my eye area and worked up a good lather.

It effectively removed even my most stubborn eye makeup without having to tug, scrub or pull at the skin. Removing it was also effortless - it washed off nicely without stripping my skin. It left my skin feeling dewy and hydrated and free from any leftover residue.

However, the one miss for me is the included Bamboo Booster. It is made up of tiny, ultra-fine bamboo spheres that are meant to gentle slough off built-up dead, dry skin. It is supposed to be mixed into the Slaai to create a creamy exfoliator. Since I have sensitive skin and prefer a chemical exfoliant (like my DE TLC Framboos or DE Protini Serum ) to a physical one this just was an unnecessary element for me but I can see why it may be an added bonus for some.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I love this cleanser WAY more than I expected and found myself reaching for it every time I washed my face makeup or not. I love how easily it cleanses, how rich it feels and the dewy glow it leaves behind. A worthwhile addition to your cleansing routine, especially if you have sensitive and dry skin. It will be a staple in my cleansing routine from here on out.
