The past few years I have been treating my hair a little more kind by trying to cut down on the colour changes and heat styling however, I cannot escape my daily washing and most days blow drying. Therefore, I am always looking at ways to reduce or reverse damage to my long fine hair.  Enter Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 - a much hyped product found in salons and Sephora. This product was found on many youtube channels and wish lists from this past Sephora sale – so naturally, I had to try it. Keep reading for all the tried and truth about my experience.

What’s Nice About It?

This product should help with damaged and compromised hair. It will help to strengthen and protect it while restoring hairs appearance and texture.

Other Niceties

·Olaplex was created by two top PhD's in chemistry and materials science. “Olaplex products feature first-of-their-kind, patented, bond-building technology, which relinks the broken disulfide bonds caused by chemical, thermal, and mechanical damage to the hair.” This in turn works for every hair type providing structural repair that works from the inside out.

First Impression

Could not wait to try this product – the bottle looked a little smaller than I expected when it arrived. I worry how fast I will go through this bottle as I have long hair. I was also a little annoyed that I would have to get in and out of the shower since you have to apply it to damp, towel dried hair then rinse out. However, if it lives up to all the hype what’s a few more minutes and water for beautiful hair.

HAIR PERFECTOR

How to Use

  1. Apply on damp, towel-dried hair.

  2. Apply a generous amount from scalp to ends until hair is thoroughly saturated.

  3. Leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes or longer if desired - I leave mine in for 15)

  4. Rinse from hair

  5. Shampoo and condition as usual

Application Reflection

The first thing I did before applying I did what I do with most hair products - Smell it. The smell was slightly floral and clean – there was no hint of chemical odours. It was a little thicker than I expected but very, very smooth and silky as I rubbed it around in my hands before running it through my hair. My hair is pretty long so I put in quite a bit as it did state to apply a “generous amount”. It seemed to cover nicely and was easy to apply without running all over the place. It did after application seem to clump my fine hair a little as I applied it but it wasn’t a major problem or uncomfortable. I did leave it in for about 15 minutes. It rinsed out easily without my having to tug and pull at my hair. As I rinsed it out my hair did feel almost squeaky clean to the touch which had me a bit concerned so I did actually add a bit more conditioner.  Blow dying was typical and my hair did feel strengthened and smooth.

Love It, Leave It, Try It, Buy It

Try It - I think if your hair is generally healthy you probably do not need this product, however, if you do a great deal of heat styling or colouring then I would definitely say this product is a must have.

Final Thoughts

With all the rave reviews I has very high hopes for this product. For me, it’s a good product that I will use up but it definitely wasn’t life changing and I may repurchase if I find myself using it more. I think it would work wonders for someone with damaged hair. I think a lot of people are thinking that this product will have the effects of a deep conditioner but it truly is not – it is exactly as it explains a bond builder that will strengthen your hair.
